Duluth, Minnesota

I try to update this blog after we leave the place we are. I know that is not a good sentence, I hope you understand. However, we are in MN now and will be here for the next three weeks. I will fully update MN once we leave and head for the touristy areas.

MN., is where Doug is from so there probably won't be lots of pictures because we don't sight see. We spend time with family.

We are arriving in Duluth, MN. Heading for Hibbing. Hibbing is where use to reside and work. We are on the Blatnik Bridge. Lots of grain shipped to foriegn counties from this area. This area is the western tip of Lake Superior. Very Beautiful. Posted by Picasa

Ashland, WI. - Lake Superior

We left Michigan and our next stop was in Ashland Wisconsin, we come Rt 2 and it was just gorgeous. We bunked at a municipal city park on Lake Superior. This is a massive Iron ore concrete dock, it was built for Minneapolis and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad in 1916.

I was sleep! In bed! The Lord opened my eyes! This is what I saw out of my window. What a great site to awaken. Just breath taking. For the first time I though: This is the life. I can't even explain. Doug had to bring me the camera.

This was the beautiful sunset the evening we arrived. This is a place I could have stayed for more than one night. We were on our way to MN. though.

Doug was misbehaving, so this was his living quarters. LOL. Just kidding. This little camper is the cutest. Never seen one this small. The couples with their two dogs were kind enough to let us take a picture. Posted by Picasa

Michigan - Mackinaw Bridge

This was pretty cool. It is a Michigan Department of Transportation Highway Memorial. There are seven steel permanent sculptures representing the DOT workers who lost their lives in job-related accidents while working in the state of Michigan.

This is the Mackinaw Bridge. Lake Huron. This was a very neat place to bunk overnight. In 1761 the French relinquished Fort Michilimackinac to the British who had assumed control of Canada as a result of their victory in the French and Indian War. Under the British, the fort continued to serve as a major fur trade facility. The Ottawa and Chippewa in the Straits area, however, found British policies harsh compared to those of the French and they resented the British takeover. In 1763 as part of Pontiac's Rebellion, a group of Chippewa staged a ball game outside the stockade to create a diversion and gain entrance to the post and then attacked and killed most of the British occupants. See live reenactments of this event over Memorial Day Weekend. Admission is free. The use of Fort Michilimackinac came to an end in 1781 when the British abandoned the post and moved to Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island. The bridge separates Lake Huron and Lake Superior. Posted by Picasa

In Ohio - 5 Weeks

This is us in Ohio. We spent five weeks here in my home town. There are no sights to see and we are not tourist there. So we just put our picture there. Something to fill up the space. There were lots going on there. Doug and I celebrated our birthdays there. His is the 20th of May and mine is the 15th. Oh, please, please, don't send gifts, try to hold yourself back, we don't have the space, but thanks. We also attended my church banquet and I had the honor of being the MC for the event. We had a Memorial Day celebration with lots of food. We also had a welcome and farewell dinner. Had a great time there. Would like to mention, some my friends: Belinda and Michel, who I visited in Harrisburg, PA. She would kill me if I put her picture on here. Faye and Judy, my Columbia Gas friends, a double death if I put there pictures on too. Talked with my good friend Cathy in AZ, whom I will see later this fall. Doug got together with his coffee drinking friends and they are Jim and Dick, their brides, Linda & Nancy accompanied them sometimes. God Bless You Linda. God worked a miracle in Linda's life. My family, Bev, Ked, Kissy and their children.....Ah! Love you bunches. Marie & Rosie, missed ya this time, but will see ya in Dec in CO. We also went to Morgantown, WV., to meet with friends from Ecuador, Titiana and Patricia, they were there on business, so we had lunch and spent the afternoon with them. Posted by Picasa
