13 Apr 06 1900 Grist Mill

This turn-of-the-century mill was used to stone grind corn into corn meal or grits. Pioneers, planters, and small farmers depended on ground corn as a major food source for themselves and their livestock. In addition, corn and the husks were useful as stuffing for mattresses, mats, brooms, baskets and toys for children. Posted by Picasa
